Bitcoin Cash: A Reflection on How Far We’ve Come
On August 1, Bitcoin resumed its original roadmap, scaling on-chain towards global adoption as Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash. It’s been just 3 and a half months since Bitcoin Cash broke away from BTC in order avoid a software mutation called Segwit, and to restore progress and growth to the ecosystem. After a recent price rally that saw us reach 0.5 BTC ($3000), the reality is setting in that an overnight ‘flippening’ scenario that some people hoped for is unlikely, and that we have a longer road ahead. It’s really important to remember how much has been achieved in such a short time. Let’s take a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come as a young community. July:

This rate and scale of industry adoption is unprecedented. With every BTC holder receiving an equal amount of Bitcoin Cash, and with the price over $1300, the rate and scale of user adoption is unprecedented. With fast, reliable transactions and fees that are less than 1 cent, and with both BitPay & Coinbase hinting at a full Bitcoin Cash integration, the rate and scale of merchant adoption will be unprecedented. With unprecedented industry, user and merchant adoption, it’s only a matter of time until Bitcoin Cash becomes the default medium of exchange and store of value cryptocurrency. The old Bitcoin is back. You can feel it. It’s the resurgence of a grassroots movement not seen for years. People are putting Bitcoin Cash posters in the streets, handing out leaflets, tipping strangers a few dollars online, and asking in forums how they can contribute to the community. Just in the last couple of days a ‘Bitcoin Cash Fund’ was established, to assist with marketing and projects. The initial goal was $200 to make a short animated advert, but over $17,000 has been donated already. All of this positivity and energy is inspiring. While businesses are being forced to abandon BTC due to exorbitant and skyrocketing fees (upwards of $10), they’re being cheered on every day as they embrace Bitcoin Cash. The original vision is still alive. As an early bitcoiner, I’ve never been more optimistic. Make sure you involve yourself in the community, we’re just getting started :) Reddit: BTC or BitcoinCash Twitter: twitter.com/BITCOINCASH Website: bitcoincash.org Dev: Mailing List Also posted on Yours:Bitcoin Cash: A Reflection on How Far We’ve Come

What they really don't wan't you to know about Dash!
Dash is breaking away with regards to integrations, partnerships and developments that advocates of other Crypto Currencies have become frightened of Dash's future dominance. Unfortunately for most of these other Crypto Currency projects Dash as a platform is well and truly in the driving seat on so many levels. Lets take a look at some of the achievements in 2017 and upcoming events:
Beginners guide to buying Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies
A super quick guide to getting started with bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. 1) Coin Research There are lots of coins you can buy, trade, or mine not just Bitcoin. You can see them and start research on coins using https://coinmarketcap.com/ 2) Getting Money In You first need to get your money on the exchanges. There are a few decent options for this.
3) Sign up and get verified Pretty much any site you want to trade on or send money to is going to ask you to also get verified which means you'll need to send them a picture of government issued ID and utility bills in some cases. After you sign up for an exchange site you'll usually need to log in and go looking in the settings for how to get verified. 4) Exchange Security When you signup for any site you'll also want setup 2-factor authentication with Google Auth. You can usually find instructions in the settings section of the site you just signed up for. IMPORTANT: Make sure to save your recovery keys because you can get locked out for good and lose your money if you don't. 5) First Coin Purchase Once you have some money in play you typically purchase Bitcoin or Ethereum first. You can hold those and pray for profit or you can start trading them for other coins. 6) Second Coin Purchase Do you want to buy more than just Bitcoin and Ethereum? Most other coins you want will be on a couple of different websites
7) Sample Workflow Assuming you have your accounts setup, a general workflow would go something like this.
Send money to quadrigaCX
Use those funds to purchase Bitcoin on quadrigaCX
Login into bittrex and get your Bitcoin address from the wallet section of the site
Go back to quadrigaCX and use the withdraw option and send your funds over to the bittrex wallet address
The funds will show up in bittrex usually 30min to 2hrs
On bittrex use your bitcoin to buy other currencies
8) Wallets Intro You don't want to leave your money or coins on exchanges since they are prone to hacking. So you'll want to research wallets. 9) More on Wallets Wallets can be a pain and take some research but taking the time to keep your funds secure is vital. Some quick wallet points
There are many types of wallets.
The general idea is that wallets have a public key and a private key.
Whoever owns the private key owns the wallet.
When your money is on an exchange the exchange owns the private key which means they technically own/control the money.
If you send the money out of the exchange to your own wallet then you own the private key.
Most coins have their own wallet with specific instructions on setting it up and keeping it secure.
There are some general purpose wallets that hold many coins (see Jaxx Wallet and Exodus Wallet)
Good wallets you will want to look into are Jaxx, Exodus, myEtherWallet, metaMask, coPay
IMPORTANT. If you lose your private key to your wallet you will lose your money forever. Ask yourself. If I lost my phone do I still have my private key? Ask yourself. If I lost my laptop do I still have my private key? If my house burned down do I still have my private key? And never give anyone your private key for any reason.
IMPORTANT. There are many scammers that will try to get your private key. Never give anyone your private key under any circumstances.
10) Crypto really does require constant research
Research trading with bittrex on youtube
Research creating cryptocurrency wallets on youtube
Research ICO investing on youtube
Research myEtherWallet on youtube
Research etherDelta on youtube
Research metaMask on youtube
Research Jaxx on youtube
11) Successful trading and investing Coin prices fluctuate wildly because there is not a ton of volume. This makes it difficult if not impossible to predict price changes using any sort of technical analysis. Doing slightly longer-term investments will likely serve you better. To be successful you need to research good quality coins that are undervalued and then feel the buzz in the community and anticipate undervalued coins rising up. This requires constant research of coins and ICOs plus being on reddit/twitteyoutube multiple times a day. 12) More trading and investing tips Get in early with undervalued coins. Don't follow the masses chasing the green when a coin is on the run going up. The majority of the time you'll end up buying at a high price just to watch the coin fall back almost as quickly as it went up. You'll often hear the term pump-and-dump to describe this. Avoid it. Look for quality investments that you can hold through the ups and downs. That's sort of the quick starter guide A good link for more detailed info https://mycrypto.guide/ If you're looking to get into ICOs https://apifini.com
As i am writing Bitcoin dips again, i hope we can sustain the 8000 satoshi level for Viacoin. Where the bottom lies for Bitcoin? nobody knows. Is this market manipulation? yes probably if you ask me. In my opinion they are confusing the markets, and a lot of people will impulse trade. I'm going to be fair, i lost a decent amount of money but sold nothing and will not sell, even if it meant to be that i lost everything what i have invested. Yes, it sucks to lose hard earned money, definitely if you have not much to spend each month, and what you can spend you bought cryptocurrency for it recent months. But i am not seeking compassion here, i did it myself, and tought the market was slowly recovering, well we all know how that turned out. Thats why i am thinking this is pure market manipulation, after this peak in 2017/2018 there where these support levels around 6000, than in the end almost a straight line just above support. Than suddenly it crashes way below, so a lot people including me, intented it either was slowly recovering or was still in the bear cycle but not at a speed like this. Also the price of BTC jumps to little after a decline like this, it is more like the decline and than it is sustained. But i am convinced it will recover, there's to much going on in the cryptocurrency space. Just to make a few examples:
But with a decline like this, there are also coming some positives.
You have the chance if you bought cryptocurrency for a higher price, to decrease your dollar average drastically.
But never put in to much, if you have let say 100 dollars, it's better to buy 4 x 25 dollars than all at once, don't be in a hurry.
There's probably coming a whole new audience, that are going to see chances and will buy cryptocurrency.
And the crypto-community will become bigger.
Also have a close look to the wealth-distribution charts, the ones with a very large wallet, probably will sell a x percentage of their funds, and smaller investors pick that up, making it better distributed, what in the long term provide for more liquidity.
Is my opinion changed about Viacoin with the recent price changes? Not at all, 90% of my holdings are in Viacoin.Because it has all the features, what i think are important. Also i am realy thrilled to see when market recovery occurs, how fast viacoin will recover, if my thought about no inflation is right, viacoin should recover faster than others. Because with cryptocurrency that have a higher inflation, the miners have much more to sell, before the price will increase. But that aside. I am convinced people who have invested or received Viacoin from friends or whatever, are going to stick with it. It's a great working product, easy to use, sending and receiving is almost instant without using LN and the android copay wallet is ready to use within 2 minutes. A big plus for me is also that it is trading on Binance one of the biggest exchanges in the world, and with a BNB trading pair, which not all coins have ! And patiently waiting for all the updates that are coming like: The lightning network what is going to be released in the near future, also the anonymous samourai wallet. And a lot more ! Few examples: Styx anonymous transactions - Schnorr signatures - MAST - Smart contracts - Submarine swaps - Colored coins But we will see how thing will turn out. Thanks for reading and i will see you next time in what market conditions that may be ! Bye
Big stores are giving people a false sense of security, start supporting stores that use escrow
It was great to see large companies like Overstock, Expedia and others to start accepting bitcoin. Now its time for the next step. Multi sig has been around for a while, and can be used with a 3rd party arbitrator. Traditionally credit cards will act as an arbitrator, think of credit cards as having 180 day escrow, the time limit for chargebacks. most big companies use bitpay, and bitpay does some vetting to make sure the company provides good service. but bitpay still expects you to send direct. while they companies are trust worthy, and will correct issues with product quality, they are getting people comfortable with sending direct, with no form of protection. new users who are just getting started have no awareness of the issue. Many people like to support smaller businesses. and there are lots of great small businesses out there that will do everything they can to provide good products/services. But there are many fake small business scammers out there. Escrow can protect against this. Sites big and small could get hacked, users could end up on the wrong site, and blindly send btc to the wrong address. and arbitrator might catch this. arbitration is not perfect and can also have issues, or an arbitrator could be a scammer. Its important that arbitration be decentralized, not just one big company like bitpay, but lots of individuals. When the consumer losses out due to scams the consumer is a direct victim. but it also hurts the crypto community, giving a bad image, and good businesses end up with customer base that has less money to put towards the good businesses that deserve it. There are a few ways to go about using escrow with multisig. The first is direct wallets, with manual setup. Electrum and Copay/bitpay wallets are wallets that support multisig. the most popular way would be a 2 of 3 wallet. where 2 signers out of 3 people are needed to finalize a transaction. if everything goes well the buyer and seller are involved. if there is an issue the arbitrator will review evidence, and side with one or the other. Manual also allows for upto 10 signers) The other ways are a more automated way of doing the same thing. Bitrated is one of them. the buyer will select someone they will be buying off, and an arbitrator. it also allows you to link social media, and has a rating system based on your social media following/reputation, and your trades on platform. The other popular place is OpenBazaar. In OpenBazaar2 anyone can be an arbitrator, there is also a verified moderator, that has been checked by the OpenBazaar team to be a good crypto community member. also altcoins can be used in OpenBazaar2. Bithalo is similar to openbazaar but with double escrow, this gives both buyer and seller more incentive to be serious and honest. I meant to play with it more, but i was inspired to start writing and get this out. Bisq is an exchange, one of the only ones where you have the keys. currently the developer serves as the arbitrator, but hopefully in future releases it will be opened up to members of the community. Bisq is software that runs on mac/win/linux for exchanging fiat to/from btc or btc to/from altscoins. All other exchanges you don't have the keys, and should not be trusted as much as people do. Binance is looking to become more like bisq, but currently binance is centralized and has the key. as far as I know, no other exchange is working towards this for bitcoin. there are some other decentralized exchanges- forkdelta for eth tokens only. bitshares, and maybe a few others I haven't spend much time on, like nem, waves, neo, maybe eos- the smart contract coins. Manual Multisig is good for private, and one time use, or long term agreements where the wallets can be left active. Bitrated is good for checking reputation, and setting one time offers. OpenBazaar is good for the seller to list items for sale. The seller will choose various acceptable arbitrators, and from that list the buyer can choose an arbitrator. Have a significant number of arbitrators to choose from (manual may be difficult to find). An additional advantage to utilizing multisig for crypto enthusiasts is more people will be hodling potentially for a few hours, days or even weeks. This can drive the btc price up. an additional issue, especially for projects that may take weeks or months is price volatility. you'll have to agree on if you are strictly priced in btc, or if you are using a fiat exchange rate at the start of the transaction, or at the end of the transaction. or you might give the option to be whatever is more advantages to the business or customer. This opens up some spaces for new companies to become arbitrators, and certain people may like a well established arbitrator, while others might like the small individual arbitrator. Anyone of the parties could even set themselves up to hedge the exchange rate to make more interesting offers. I would hope that those who are true believers will start using escrow soon, and get people in the habit of transacting safely. Overstock seems to be a crypto ally so I hope to see them start sooner. Expedia seems like they just care about customer demand and the profit, so I don't expect as much from. There are many other examples, I just didn't want to spend the time to go through everything. There's lots of people already on bitrated, and openbazaar, that maybe need a little reminder, just how important their part is in escrow, and keeping the crypto community strong https://www.bitrated.com/opticbit OpenBazaar Verified Moderator ob2: QmcscQDiCuTSGxBeMD9qyXwRMcbLU5m9P1kupojYJdFdoh (Me)

There's lots of people already on bitrated, and openbazaar, that maybe need a little reminder, just how important their part is in escrow, and keeping the crypto community strong https://www.bitrated.com/opticbit OpenBazaar Verified Moderator ob2: QmcscQDiCuTSGxBeMD9qyXwRMcbLU5m9P1kupojYJdFdoh (Me)
Transfer bitcoin cash to binance using a BCH address format translator...
I have today tried transferred my bitcoin cash from my copay/bitpay wallet to the binance exchange. When using the BCH (BCC when using Binance despite it being bitcoin cash, and not the scam coin!) then you get an error from the mobile wallet ‘Copay only supports Bitcoik cash using new version number addresses’. So i researched this, and there is a page on bitpay informing me that the wallet address that binance provides is not in the new address convention apparently, and it needs to be converted to a new one. So next step, i used a ‘BCH Address Translator’ where i enter the Binance BCH wallet address, and it converts it to an address (that starts with letters rather than numbers), and i then use this new generated address to send BCH from my wallet to binance. So, now I am in the waiting game. Transfer was done 4 hours ago, I see 10 confirmations so far, yet nothing on binance, No pending deposits, so naturally I am getting anxious! Lets see if this works. I really wonder if anyone else has gone through this painful process?! Fingers crossed. I will update this thread if I had success or not. Who said transferring digital money was so easy?! In this case, we are a long way from that! :)
Big stores without escrow or multisig give a false sense of security, support stores that use escrow.
